    Winter Training Program

    Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club is pleased to offer the following program for intermediate and senior rowers. Preference will be given to rowers who are interested in racing with WBRC in future seasons.

    Commencing in term two we will be running a five week sweep and sculling program.

    Wendouree Ballarat RC will provide 2 coached sessions

    per week by accredited coaches, additionally participants are able to access the shed for ergo or boat usage outside of these sessions by consultation.

    This training program will be followed up with selected rowers participating in the Corio Winter Sculling Series run each Sunday morning from early June.

    Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club will  be towing a trailer down with single sculls.

    Please note. An ergometer time is required to aid in the selection of participants. This program is aimed at growing the confidence and ability of intermediate level rowers and participants will be selected to ensure balance in the program.

    Program Details:

    Venue: Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club

    Start Date: week beginning 23rd  April 2018 

    Optional Winter Sculling Series Dates: (TBC) June 2018 –  August 2018

    Cost: $200.00 per participant inc Boat Transport for Winter Series. All equipment and coaching supplied. Bring a change of clothing and towel. Discounted price of $120 available for existing WBRC members.

    Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club Pathway Program 2018/19

    Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club is currently preparing to launch a youth (under 21) focused rowing program for the 2018-19 rowing season and beyond aimed at supporting Ballarat’s best youth rowers in nomination & selection to the Victorian State Team. The secondary goal of the program is to provide a pathway for all youth aged rowers to stay engaged with the sport. In support of this we have just purchased 2 brand new Sykes Coxed Racing Fours specifically for use within this program. 

    The last time Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club supported a youth-based rowing program four of the eight athletes made it onto the Victorian State Under 21 Team to compete at the Australian Rowing Championships, additionally they won a silver medal in the under 23 coxed four!

    Program Selection Criteria:

    • Up to 10 Female & 10 Male rowers will be selected
    • 1 Female & 1 Male cox will be selected
    • If required, ergo testing will be conducted, top 10 female & male athletes will be selected
    • All program fees must be paid up front or an agreed upon payment plan must be followed
    Program Fees:
    • WBRC Annual Student Membership Fee $200.00
    • WBRC Youth Program Coaching Fee (Rowing) $550.00
    • WBRC Youth Program Coaching Fee (Coxing) $150.00

    • NSW State Championships (not all athletes will attend) $700.00 (approximate)

    • Australian Rowing Championships (not all athletes will attend) $1000.00 (approximate)

    • Victorian Regattas / Camps / Trips calculated per event $50.00 (approximate)

    We are currently looking to recruit and identify potential athletes for the 2018-19 season. If you or someone you know is interested please get in contact with Paul.

    • WBRC shed, Lake Wendouree
    WBRC will racing at lots of regattas this year in both sweep and scull boats.

    First up, we will be attending the Saltwater Challenge on Maribyrnong River in Essendon on 8 September. This is aimed at crews rowing in quad sculls. We would love to have representatives at all levels from the club.

    Please register your interest and provide the names of other rowers you’d like to row with.

    We also need experienced coxes to help us navigate our way along the river.

    For crews who are available, the first session will be 22 July. This gives you 6 weeks to train for Saltwater.

    Training will either be in our coxless quad, coxed quad, doubles and singles. You must be a member of WBRC for the 2018-19 season.
