    Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club Pathway Program 2018/19

    Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club is currently preparing to launch a youth (under 21) focused rowing program for the 2018-19 rowing season and beyond aimed at supporting Ballarat’s best youth rowers in nomination & selection to the Victorian State Team. The secondary goal of the program is to provide a pathway for all youth aged rowers to stay engaged with the sport. In support of this we have just purchased 2 brand new Sykes Coxed Racing Fours specifically for use within this program. 

    The last time Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club supported a youth-based rowing program four of the eight athletes made it onto the Victorian State Under 21 Team to compete at the Australian Rowing Championships, additionally they won a silver medal in the under 23 coxed four!

    Program Selection Criteria:

    • Up to 10 Female & 10 Male rowers will be selected
    • 1 Female & 1 Male cox will be selected
    • If required, ergo testing will be conducted, top 10 female & male athletes will be selected
    • All program fees must be paid up front or an agreed upon payment plan must be followed
    Program Fees:
    • WBRC Annual Student Membership Fee $200.00
    • WBRC Youth Program Coaching Fee (Rowing) $550.00
    • WBRC Youth Program Coaching Fee (Coxing) $150.00

    • NSW State Championships (not all athletes will attend) $700.00 (approximate)

    • Australian Rowing Championships (not all athletes will attend) $1000.00 (approximate)

    • Victorian Regattas / Camps / Trips calculated per event $50.00 (approximate)

    We are currently looking to recruit and identify potential athletes for the 2018-19 season. If you or someone you know is interested please get in contact with Paul.

    Once again WBRC will be running our winter program at Lake Wendouree. Rowers will gain experience in sweep and scull boats.

    Information session Wed 24 April in the evening, time TBC. Training to commence after 24 April.

    Rowers will receive 6 weeks of 2-3 coached sessions per week. Handicapped racing will be held weather permitting in the remaining weeks of term.

    Open to all club and school rowers. No sculling experience required, it’s a great way to transfer your sweep skills and enjoy the lake during the off season. Rowers with sculling experience will get the chance to row with other experienced rowers at the club.

    Places are limited, fees apply and dates will be confirmed following the concluding of the summer racing season.

    Option to travel to regattas and events beyond Ballarat, as well as participating in handicapped racing on the lake.
